Grove Lodge Veterinary Group is described in recent reviews as providing routine care (including annual vaccinations) as well as short-notice work-ups for suddenly unwell pets. Experiences in the latest reviews are mixed: one owner reports clear explanations of treatment options and costs upfront (“no hidden surprises”), while several others describe the opposite—poor communication, unclear diagnostic plans, and feeling the practice prioritised fees over care. One detailed review reports being charged £2,500 within 24 hours for an illness episode and also says that, despite “24-hour animal hospital” messaging, out-of-hours care was handled by Vets Now (a separate team), which they found frustrating.

I cannot put into words how little Grove Lodge Vets genuinely cares about the animals and people it serves and how unethical they are in their conduct, They only care about profit above duty of care. I have been using Grove Lodge vets since 2019 when my dog was a puppy, I have until recently been quite lucky in terms of my dog only ever needing standard care and visits in terms of yearly vaccinations etc, however over the last week my dog became unwell and we took him to Grove Lodge, in 24 hours we where charged £2,500 for his “care” but I would use the term care very loosely, We received more empathy and compassion from the claims advisor at our insurance than we did at Grove Lodge, This is the third time we have questioned their ethics and how they conduct themselves based on our interactions with the staff there, where it feels purely transactional and profit before pets and people. There was a real lack of clarity from the vets in terms of diagnosis, lead times, testing and any real plan of action, They also claim to be a 24 hour animal hospital however the care is outsourced to Vets Now outside of standard hours which means essentially your pet is being cared for by a completely different unconnected team. I called at 3am to do a welfare check and was told they’d just tried to give my dog food and he hadn’t eaten it, but why she was trying to feed him at 3am in the first place leaves a lot to the imagination. If you genuinely love and care about animals and your pet, Please find an alternative vets who actually care about animals and put them first, Grove Lodge only put profit and money first, the animals are an after thought.
